A Riddle

Riddle: What do Gwyneth Paltrow, Gary Glitter and Glee have in common?

Answer: They are all promoters of child abuse.

” Whaaaat?”  You say. “Not dear sweet Gwyneth! She is a mother, a leader in Goop promotion and an oscar winner. She would never have anything to do with child abuse.” Then you may look askance at me and declare your disgust at my tainting the reputation of Glee, the finest television show to come along since American Idol!  How dare I. How dare anyone question the sacredness of these cash cows. Well, I dare. Oh yeah, I double dare. Here is why.

Gary Glitter was a glam rock star from Britain in the 1970’s. Sadly I must report that this is not the reason for his infamy. He actually gained worldwide attention for being a prolific and unrepentant pedophile who has faced numerous charges and some convictions for the following: Child pornography, sexual abuse of children as young as ten and of course fleeing the authorities and taking up residence in a foreign country. In essence, he is an evil pig.

So, what does this have to do with Ms. Paltrow and Glee?  Well, it seems Gwyneth has performed a Gary Glitter song on Glee. Not only that, the song takes place inside a classroom where she is supposed to be an instructor teaching sex ed. Instead, she writhes and panthers around the room in leather pants, flipping her hair and singing lines written by a convicted pedophile, that in light of his perverted activities could be construed as an expression of his warped and twisted mind.

My issue with all this is simple. Glitter stands to make a truck load of cash from the downloads of his song in addition to introduction of this predator to a new generation of children who watch Glee but know nothing of his history. The song itself is lyrically very sexual in nature and not for children. Period. If you are curious you can watch Gwyneth prance and whine her way through this ear bleeding song on youtube.

Gee Gwyn, I know your career is basically in the shitter and your looks are disappearing rapidly, at least  by Hollywood standards, but did you need to engage a pedophile and his music in the propping up of your very saggy public image? Is it really worth it when you look at your own children? What exactly are you teaching them about the importance of preserving the innocence of children? Tell me Gwyneth, would  you leave Apple alone with Glitter? I bet you wouldn’t and you damn well shouldn’t.   So how come the children he has abused  are not as important as your screen time on a substandard television show? What do you think they would say about you fattening the bank account of the man who robbed them of their childhood and scarred them for life? Ditto to the cast, crew and creators of Glee.

I began with a riddle, so lets end with one shall we?

Riddle: How the hell did our society become so polluted with filth and complete disregard for the safety of vulnerable children?

Answer: Selfishness and individualism. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.

  1. You are right Paul, the industry does attract pedophiles and it’s been going on for a long time. Elvis Presley, the god of rock and roll was 26 years old when he was having sexual relations with 13 year old Priscilla. Sick. Look at her life and tell me she is fucked up. Jerry Lee Lewis, his contemporary married his 13 year old cousin. Sick. Pete Townsend is a pedophile who was caught downloading child porn. I could go on and on but you get the jaded picture. Thank you for commenting and stating important facts most people don’t want to face.

  2. I think to summarise my thoughts (ha!) it comes down to complete ignorance. And on this occasion, money. Maybe Glee was struggling in the ratings and this was a purposeful attempt to hit the headlines. It worked … but still the kids aren’t mentioned. Their stories aren’t mentioned in context. The fact is, people don’t want to think about it because it’s too scarey. It’s all blurred. That really is no excuse. None. Nada. You know I have a lot to say on this subject but I reckon the above sums it up.

    1. Money and crime are twins. You can’t have one without the other. It’s all about power. You know Kiersty, it disturbs me to the core that what you say about them doing it for headlines is probably true. 😦 You are a very astute lady and I appreciate your perspective so much.

  3. Well, I would never have thought it of Gwyneth… But this world is getting sicker by the minute I do believe. Many people don’t have consciences any longer, and that’s a fact!

    1. I agree adeeyoyo, although it makes me queasy to know it’s a fact that people are turning into soulless blocks of ice. It seems as if we are regressing to the dark ages after having made such strides socially.
