    1. Thank you Gabrielle, for taking the time to listen and for understanding what I was doing. I’m purging, everything that doesn’t work in my soul and life. I’ve reached that cathartic age. Yes, we are not supposed to outlive our children and when it happens it rips the heart in two with the cruelty of it all.

  1. I love the choice of medium for delivering this story. I once meant to do something similar for a non-fiction workshop but technical problems persisted and we never did. I can appreciate the quality too, as many podcasts are difficult to hear.

    Nice to meet you.

    D.

    1. Thank you D. I think the visual is important but there is a subtlety to podcasting that is effective when trying to conjure mental images in the listener. I hope you attempt some podcasting on your blog, it would be interesting to hear some of your work spoken. It’s also good to meet you too D. 🙂 Thanks for dropping in.

  2. I like the “hey” at the end, kind of like a stamp of validation and a little glimmer of light at the same time.

Why do I have no problem imagining you being unable to resist joining in the insult fun?!
I agree with you about the charm of podcasting.

Thanks for sharing this,it is powerful.
Sorry for you to have to be so close to that tragedy.

    1. Thank you Mark. I think podcasting reaches people in a much different way, a more permanent way without the distraction of my scary face! lol Only a sawdust rebel would understand my lack of resistance to insult fun. Danny (not his real name of course) will always be eleven. More than anything, I think his lack of aging disturbed my soul the most. There was no such thing as grief counselling when I was a kid, you were expected to get over it. I don’t think anyone present that night did. 😦

  3. Yeah Bryan, me too. 😦 HUGS. The 24th of May is coming up and this year, it felt right to actually write it, and say it out loud. Thank you for sticking with it until the end.

  4. i’m starting to think about the possibilities of doing podcasting too. love that you are doing that!

    1. Thanks Jessie! Podcasting does have a certain charm. It reminds me of old radio plays and how the story is enhanced by the imagination of the listener. I think it’s like reading in that respect, an intimate connection between the story teller and the listener.
