Of A Past Recalled

The haze descended in an illusion

Of liquid air

You could stir with your feelings

Making a ripple of sweat

A sickly sweet trickle

sliding between

headache inducing squints

In the sun of the city summer

Food aromas mingle

Like tempting snakes

Around the hot dog vendor

A blaze of head on collision chatter

Meanders a path well known

To younger ears with older fears

A dissemination of faded utterances

Divinely extended to the glad hands

Of a child with the face of a shining moon

But the ugly bear of time

Ate the minutes inside the hours

Every day he did devour

While the days starved themselves to death

A skeleton denial

Of empty years

  1. The reminiscer steamed up my glasses.
Simmering hot, Val! Very well done!

The ugly bear really finished this one off.
Great ending! You can’t deny that.
    Hot-doggedy-doo! Or is it…
    Hot-diggedy-dog?
    Uhh, Mr. Tree

    1. Thank you tree. I believe it’s greasy-artery-cloggedy-dog. I’m pleased you liked the famished bear. He’s been eating the digits off my clock of life for a long time now. 🙂
